What is recruitment?

We can simply say recruitment is the process of identifying, attracting, interviewing, selecting, hiring, and onboarding employees. In other words, it involves everything from the identification of a staffing need to filling it.

In large companies, they have separate departments or teams of recruiters while others only have a single recruiter, or the HR manager may be responsible for recruiting. In addition, some companies want to outsource their recruitments to specialized third-party companies.

Most companies use advertisements, job boards, social media sites, and specialized job sites for their recruitments. Below are the top 10 ranked job sites in 2021 (Polner, 2021).

Below are the essential steps of the recruitment process.

👍 Types of recruitment

There are two types of recruitment in the organizations

1. Internal Recruitments

The recruitments take place within the organizations called “Internal recruitments”. There          are three types of internal recruitments.
    1. Transfers
    2. Promotions
    3. Re-employment of ex-employees
2. External Recruitments

The recruitments take place outside the organizations called “External recruitments”.                 There are seven types of external recruitments.
    1. Employment at Factory Level (Unsolicited applicants)
    2. Advertisement
    3. Employment Exchanges (Mostly in government jobs)
    4. Employment Agencies
    5. Educational Institutions
    6. Recommendations
    7. Labor Contractors
Conclusion:

Recruitment in simple terms: identifying correct candidates and hiring them to fill open positions. However, effective recruiting has a bit of art with science. It needs to implement repeatable processes that will lead to reliable results, on the one hand. On the other hand, it requires sophistication to think outside the box to find your ideal candidate.
